Twelve Ukrainian cities join the SUN4Ukraine initiative of the
EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission

Twelve municipalities from across Ukraine are starting a transformative
journey to climate-neutral rebuilding with support from the SUN4Ukraine
initiative of the EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission.

*Ekaterina Zaharieva*, Commissioner for Startups, Research and
Innovation, said:

/“I would like to thank wholeheartedly the many Ukrainian cities
that expressed interest in becoming more closely associated with the
EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. Despite a context of
war of aggression against your territory, you show a strong
commitment for our joint future. Your resilience, determination and
vision for green and sustainable cities are an inspiration to us. We
will continue to support you as long as it takes and as much as
needed until you win this war.”/

Turning global carbon emissions into healthy soil

Agriculture accounts for 25 % of the world’s total carbon emissions. To
help the sector reduce its carbon footprint, the EU-funded AgriCapture
project is turning to a process that removes carbon from the atmosphere
and stores it in soil. Not only can this reduce net greenhouse gas
emissions, it also improves soil quality.
