Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking becomes autonomous and
starts new implementation phase
On 23 November, the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking has acquired
financial autonomy from the European Commission to implement its own
budget.
Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture,
Education and Youth said:
/"Cooperation between European and African countries in research is
crucial for global health and sustainable development. With
financial autonomy, the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking takes
a crucial step on its path to becoming one of the biggest public
funders of infectious diseases clinical research in the world."/

Success stories
An app-based test for detecting synaesthesia in children
Synaesthesia, a neurological condition associated with anxiety disorders
and autism, is difficult to identify in children. The EU-funded
SYN-TOOLKIT project developed a new method to gather evidence of this
perceptual phenomenon. The research has led to the development of a
diagnostic smartphone app that could help these individuals access support.
