abstract: This is an intro to the Donaldson-Thomas theory, with emphasize
on the 7-dimensional picture. After some algebraic preliminaries, we talk
about the gauge theory in dimension 7 and also 6 and 8, as well as the
corresponding description by special submanifolds.
