Integrability in Gauge and String Theory (IGST) 2020 by videoconference
From*August 24-28 of 2020*, the annual Integrability in Gauge and
String Theory (IGST) conference will be held online.
Integrable structures are usually present in one or two dimensional
models â from two dimensional condensed matter materials to string
theory which can be solved exactly. Some higher dimensional systems
such as supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in four dimensions, fishnet
theories and some matter Chern-Simons theories in three dimensions are
dual to integrable two dimensional models. This leads to an important
non-perturbative formulation of such higher dimensional theories which
provide formidable lampposts in the space of non-perturbative quantum
field theories. General lessons from these exactly solvable toy models
can be applied more broadly providing valuable intuition for our
understanding of quantum field theory. As usual with the Integrability
in Gauge and String theory conference series, we will invite a broad
spectrum of experts from nearby fields, from pure integrabilists to
practitioners of other exactly solvable techniques to condensed matter
physicists. This year, given the joint two week program, there will also
be a strong focus on applications to the conformal bootstrap.
The main focus of this conference (series) is on the use of
Integrability to provide full solutions to strongly interacting gauge
and string theories. Notable examples of such theories include maximally
supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and their recently discovered fishnet
cousins.
