**About PhAST.
* PhAST is a venture-backed AI healthcare startup developing computer 
vision technology for rapid pathogen identification and antibiotic 
resistance detection directly from patient samples. Our platform 
provides clinical decision support for doctors, workflow improvement for 
hospitals, and helps accelerate the drug development process for 
pharmaceutical companies. Founded in 2017 by an MIT PhD alumnus and an 
ETH Professor of Engineering, PhAST has built a strong founding team, 
built 6 prototypes of its diagnostic device, established research 
collaborations with world-class clinical collaborators at the Harvard

scientists and business experts across the USA and Switzerland. Company 
headquarters are located in the biotech innovation hub of Boston (USA)

*Job Description*. PhAST is seeking a talented and driven data scientist 
to join its data analysis team to analyze the large set of antibiotic 
susceptibility test data produced with its proprietary diagnostic 
platform using clinical samples, and distill these into an automated 
diagnostic model.

_Major tasks and responsibilities include:_
• Analyzing large composite datasets to identify biological and 
experimental sources of variability in PhAST’s diagnostic biomarkers.
• Developing test statistics/estimators of antibiotic effectiveness 
based on PhAST’s biomarkers.
• Developing statistical models for the effectiveness of antibiotics on 
direct patient samples.
This position will include collaborative work with the current PhAST 
data analysis team as well as independent projects. As a member of a 
small, dedicated team within PhAST, this position will have
the opportunity to significantly influence the rapid growth of the company.

_We seek candidates with the following qualifications:_
• PhD in statistics, data sciences, or physics/engineering with strong 
data analysis expertise.
• A minimum of three years of industry or equivalent experience.
• Strong computational abilities for data analysis (e.g., Matlab or C++).
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Motivation to work in a fast-paced startup environment, with frequent 
deadlines.
• Team spirit to work in close collaboration with the experimental team 
for the most effective
interplay between experiments and analysis.
• Prior research experience in the life sciences or biotechnology is a plus.
