*Numerical aspects concerning an efficient resolution of the Schrödinger
equation. Application to decoherence.*
*Summary*: The numerical resolution of the time-dependent Schrödinger
equation may be extremely challenging, due to several difficulties
related with:
* the high dimensionality of the problem (many-body molecular physics)
* the possible presence of non-linearities
* the multiple scale nature of the associated dynamics (slow nuclei vs
rapid-moving electrons)
* the highly oscillatory wave functions (when the Schrödinger equation
is taken in the semi-classical regime).
In this talk, we shall discuss some examples of the slow-rapid particle
dynamics, which is intimately related to the description of the quantum
decoherence effects. The goal is to study in an efficient numerical way
the interaction between a quantum system and its environment.
