Dr. Alaa Addin Mani, from the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, will be 
presenting on Friday 15/3/2013 in the Euler Lecture Hall (LB) at 10.00 am.

The title is:
Femtosecond laser research in Syria; construction of FemtoLab

Abstract: Implanting femtosecond technology in a developing country like
Syria is a very tough task. Second harmonic generation SHG, Sum-Frequency
Generation SFG and Coherent anti-Stokes Raman CARS spectroscopies with
microscopy applications are very attractive nowadays; by which a
femtosecond research lab is under construction.
Current femtosecond microscope project will be devoted to study the
dynamics of biomolecules/biosensors using femtosecond time resolution.
