The FP7 DOPAMINET Consortium is pleased to announce the 2012 DOPAMINET Summer School which will take place on 19-20 July 2012 in Trieste at SISSA - International School for Advanced Studies. The theme and focus of the Summer School will be on Dopaminergic Neurons and Parkinson's Disease. 

The Summer School goals are: 

    • to inspire and train PhD students, medical doctors and early stage researchers involved in the study of neurodegenerative diseases. 
    • to raise awareness of the recent research advances in the field of Dopaminergic Neurons and in technologies for improving therapeutic approaches to fight Parkinson’s Disease: special emphasis will be put on the impact of functional genomics. 
    • to promote participation in international dialogue and exchange and to strengthen alliance with patients, care-takers organizations and policy makers committed in shaping evidence-based policies on neurodegenerative diseases. 


The Summer School is conceived as a focused and multi-disciplinary networking platform to access the highest level of expertise from leaders in the field of functional neurogenomics. 


The Summer School includes two plenary lectures from Prof. Moussa B.H. Youdim (Technion-Rappaport Family) and Prof. Alain Prochiantz (Collège de France). 



A roundtable with health policy makers and stakeholders from industry and patient organizations is also planned. 

The scientific coordinator of the Summer School is Prof. Stefano Gustincich (SISSA) supported by CBM – Cluster in Biomedicine.
