TITLE: Quantum Non-locality: some recent perspectives

ABSTRACT: While hidden variables theories do not constitute a more
plausible description of the microscopic world with respect to quantum
mechanics, they have produced a deeper understanding of the quantum world,
leading to the identification of the fundamental traits of non-locality
and contextuality. We describe some relevant features of the recently
introduced class of “crypto non-local hidden variables theories”, describe
their super-quantum joint correlations, and detail an important theorem
concerning local averages in maximally entangled states.

TIME AND PLACE: Wednesday, February 08th, 03.00 PM, Room 204 LB

The Quantum Journal Club of the Department of Physics is an informal
appointment for the discussion of current research topics in quantum
mechanics and related disciplines. It aims at promoting interactions and
spreading knowledge among local scientists.

Anybody wishing to give a contribution can contact me at rromano at ts.infn.it.
