"KK-theory and spectral triples"
Kasparov's KK-theory is an important tool in both the construction and
computation of invariants in noncommutative geometry. After discussing
several aspects of KK-theory, we will show how its definition can be
refined to obtain a notion of morphism and hence a category of
spectral triples. This approach allows for an explicit description of
the intricate Kasparov product. The smoothness conditions introduced
allow for a transfer of the algebraic theory of connections to an
analyitc setting. This uses of operator space techniques to show that
smoothness is preserved under taking products.
