Beno Gutenberg lecture

  "Global Earth Structure from Seismic Imaging"

The   Beno  Gutenberg  Medal  of   the  European  Geophysical   
Society/European  Geophysical  Union
has been established by the EGS Section on Solid Earth Geophysics and  
EGU Division on Seismology
in recognition of the scientific achievements of Beno Gutenberg.

It is reserved for individuals in recognition of their outstanding  
contributions to Seismology. Awardees in chronological order:

1996 		F. Press (USA)
1997 		V. Cervený (Czech Rep)
1998 		M. Båth (Sweeden)
2000 		G.F. Panza (Italy)
2002 		T.B. Yanovskaya (Russia)
2003  		B. Romanowicz (USA)	
2004		Lev Vinnik (Russia)	
2005		Keiiti Aki (USA)
2006		Guust Nolet	(USA)
2007		Brian L.N. Kennett (Australia)	

Most of the awardees have delivered the Beno Gutenberg lecture at  
ICTP in the past.
In 2008 the medal has been awarded to John Woodhouse (GB) who will  
deliver his Beno Gutenberg lecture
"Global Earth Structure from Seismic Imaging"
at ICTP on Friday October 3 at 9:00 AGH (Kastler Lecture Hall)
