Thanks a lot for your share on GitHub about the RegCM4 model. I am trying to use it with a vegetation process model to analyze the effect of aerosol and its related climate change on vegetation.
However, when I want to export diffuse (direct) photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and diffuse (direct) near-infrared radiation (NIR) to the vegetation process model BESS, I met some barriers as follows, could you help me?
1) Whether CCM3 radiative transfer model could export diffuse (direct) PAR and diffuse (direct) NIR? I could not find it ...
2) Instead, I find the diffuse and direct shortwave NIR in the RRTM radiative transfer model, but I do not sure whether the effect of aerosol was considered the same as that in the CCM3 radiative transfer model, and if this shortwave NIR includes the 700-4000 nm completely?
3) I also find the direct and diffuse PAR in the Chemlab, mod_che_drydep.F90, which is calculated using the solar zenith angle and solar radiation (named 'srad' in this module), and it seems that this PAR is calculated from the solar radiation exported in CCM3, which includes the effect of aerosol on radiation, isn't it? Besides, I wonder that whether these direct and diffuse PAR can be used and exported through the module Chemlab, when using RRTM radiative transfer model?
4) Finally, I am frustrated that it seems difficult for me and my surrounding peers to modify the code of RegCM4 to have these variables be output because none of us have experience of Fortran and code modification. So I wonder that whether you could share any ideas, ways, or examples to modify the code to let it output these variables? We will appreciate it a lot for your kind help.
