1st Cairo Water Week,
14-18 October 2018 Cairo-Egypt
Water is source of life on our planet. It is a vital element for sustainable development. The Water sector is currently facing many challenges all over the world. The demand for
fresh water is increasing from all sectors of development which are competing with each other for fresh water. In addition, pollution of different water resources is becoming a serious threat for sustainable development. Climate change also imposes extra challenges
for water resources management. This situation requires collaborative efforts between countries, the UN system and international donors to exchange experience for better management of the scarce water resources.
In this regard the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt is planning to
organize an annual water week. Such an event brings together all water stakeholders to exchange experiences on facing the challenges. The goal is to deliberate on water issues which influence the daily life of people and have an impact on sustainable
development. The 1st Cairo Water Week (CWW) will be held in Cairo, Egypt from 14-18 October, 2018, under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
CWW will promote water awareness, foster new thinking about the most pressing water-related challenges and take actions towards integrated water resources management and conservation for sustainable development.
On behalf of the government of Egypt, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in cooperation with international partners will organize the first Water Week in Cairo during October 2018.
