Dear OMAR,
Hi,If your domain has two parts on in tropics and the other in Middle latitudes, I think the prefable projection is ROTMER and you can check this by plot your domain after the terrain step and see the values of xmap. the xmap should be one "1" not far this number (i.e. 1.01, 0.99, etc..).I hope this will helpthanksMohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed OMAREgyptian Meteorological AuthorityScientific Research DepartmentClimate Studies Centre

Subject: Re: [RegCNET] RegCM and map projections
Dear Suman & RegCNET,Thank you for your reply and suggesting me Lambert Conformal but Lambert Conformal projection covers around 45 degrees and my domain is Crossing 45 degrees extent in latitude.I request RegCNET please comments. Is the map projection also effect the sensitivity of the model or it is only for display purposes? With regards,AliOn Wed, Sep 5, 2012 at 1:46 AM, Suman Maity <suman.buie@gmail.com> wrote:Dear

This is Suman Maity from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India.I have got your problem. I don't know about the comparative study but as a suggestion as in my case (domain having low and middle latitude) you can use Lambert Confomal. I have done language study and taken this decision.

I read the follow statements in RegCM user guide:• Middle latitudes (around 45 degrees) - Lambert Conformal• Polar latitudes (more than 75 degrees) - Polar Stereographic• Low latitudes (up to 30 degrees and crossing the equator) - Mercator• Crossing more than 45 degrees extent in latitude - Rotated MercatorMy domain consist of both Low latitudes and Middle latitudes. Please help me in the following two queries:1) Which map projection is the best choice for the attached domain. Lambert Conformal or Rotated Mercator?2) Is there any comparative study or research paper on the effect of map projections for a particular domain using RegCM?With regards,Ali
