Dear Fabien,

Thank you very much for your kind reply. Now I have another question to ask you for help. In present RegCM4.1.1 model, sigma2=1.2D0 on line 50 in mod_dust.F90. But it's 1.6 in the paper of Zake A S, et al., Atmos. Chem. Phys., which entitled "Implementation and testing of a desert dust module in a regional climate model". Which value is right?

Best regards,

Su

Hello

Inhibition of dust emission by snow cover is not activated properly in
regcm4.1 . There is a commented line in the dust emission routine when
fluxes are aggregated form the texture to the gridscale level that
account for grid snow cover. The snow cover ( or snow mask ) variable
should be passed by argument from the emission driver routine : be
carefull we cannot use directly module variable because dust routine are
called on a 'reduced grid' containing only desert and semi desert point.
An other option is to wait for the next bugfix release , for which we
will activate this option . Sorry about that.

Fabien
