RegCM4 Compilers.

Gfortran 4.4 – Benchmarking.

We have been running RegCM-4.0 on the East African domain LON 28 44, LAT -12 6 with ds=20km on my PC, 1.8GHz with Linux 9.10 . Our Compiler is gfortran 4.4. Firstly, the advantage in using this compiler is that the netcdf libraries are installed directly from the repositories; ((sudo) apt-get install package). Secondly, the simulation time is the same – it takes an hour to perform a day's simulation with either IFC 11.1 or gfortran 4.4.

Except for the well known bug in Linux 9.10 that upgrading the kernel leads to Grub booting error when linux operates in Windows environment, RegCM4 should run smoothly.
