The Center for Climatic Research (CCR) (ccr.aos.wisc.edu) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
is seeking a Assistant or Associate Scientist.   CCR is beginning a long-term
funded collaboration with the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL)
through EPA funding.  We are looking to hire a scientist to initially work along with other
researchers at CCR and GLERL, investigating how climate change may affect the water levels
of the Great Lakes throughout this century.  It is expected that the successful candidate will develop
a research portfolio over time to generate independent funding.  The funded project will involve
coupling the ICTP Regional Climate Model (RegCM) to the Large Basin Runoff Model (LBRM)
for lake level calculations, evaluating the performance of the coupled model over the Great
Lakes Basin, and performing both hindcasts and future simulations, using global climate model
output to drive the regional model.

The successful candidate will have experience using a regional climate model, ideally ICTP RegCM,
knowledge of fortran, a strong publication record, and motivation to seek out additional funding for
subsequent years.

The anticipated start date for the position is October 1, 2010, depending on the timing of funding
and the applicant's availability.
