Dear Dr Bi and RegCNET users,

I have run RegCM3(March 2008 version) for 21yrs(i.e. 1980-2000) with ERA40 as the lateral boundary conditions.

The physics option we used for convective precipitation is Grell scheme(Fritsch & Chappell closure assumption).

When I compared the rainfall with IMD 0.5x0.5 gridded rainfall over the land point over India, except 1985 all remaining year I got

excess rainfall. 1985 got 14cm less than the IMD rainfall. I have tried so many runs for that year. But all the time the rainfall was

same. So could you please check the dataset for that year and inform me whether there is any mistake in the dataset or can you

please suggest me what may be reason behind this.

Thanks and regards

Dear Kanhu:

Thank you very much for your finding the error !

The file is wrong, I have just redownloaded the file vwnd.1989.18.nc
from ECMWF webpage and update the data in our ftp server.

Several years ago, Mr. Zhang Lei, Mr. Guo Weidong and I work on downloading the whole ERA40 files, you know, each file need to be
renamed (like, mv output.nc vwnd.1989.18.nc), probably one of us
made a mistake. This error is also possible due to the previous
ECMWF's code to netcdf data.

When I download the file vwnd.1989.18.nc data, the date range is
from 1989:1:1:18 to 1989:12:31:18 (not the previous 1989:1:1:0 to 1989:12:31:0).

Anyway, I feel sorry for any inconvience caused by this error. And
if possible, could you please also help me check the other files.
I am also doing the check right now.

Thank you again for your help !

Dear Dr. Bi and Regcnet users

There is an error in vwnd.1989.18.nc in ERA40 data-set.
While opening the data file it is showing that the time is
1990:1:1:0 whereas the time should be 1989:1:1:0
The error message is shown below

ga-> sdfopen vwnd.1989.18.nc
Scanning self-describing file:  vwnd.1989.18.nc
SDF file vwnd.1989.18.nc is open as file 1
LON set to 0 360
LAT set to -90 90
LEV set to 1 1
Time values set: 1990:1:1:0 1990:1:1:0

ga-> set t 1 365
Time values set: 1990:1:1:0 1990:12:31:0

So please suggest me for VWND.1989.18 data which file I should use.
Thanks in advance.
