Inauguration of Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research (CECCR), Jeddah , Saudi Arabia
Dear Researchers,
The King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah , Saudi Arabia has launched a new Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research (CECCR) on 16th November 2009. This initiative is based on its capability of having excellent resources in the field of climate science and computing facilities.
The CECCR will mainly depend upon the use of the High Performance Computing (HPC) facility for its computational needs, which is considered the third fastest HPC of its kind in Saudi Arabia . CECCR is the first Center in the region to use such facility for climate change research and has massive data storage capacity. Currently, the CECCR team consists of ten international Climate Science experts.
The CECCR has already six students at this time; three of them are international students from Bangladesh and Pakistan working towards their masters. The CECCR will start its new PhD programs from the next academic year, open both for national and international students. The CECCR welcomes researchers in climate science from home and abroad.
The CECCR is now starting to collaborate with leading climate research institutes globally and welcomes new collaborations throughout the world.
