[RegCNET] ICTP Earth System Physics section (ESP)-2 post-doc announcement- deadline 31 May 2025

Dear colleagues, 
ICTP ESP section is hiring two post-docs to work under the LIQUIDICE <https://www.linkedin.com/company/liquidice/> project, funded by the European Union HORIZON program.

📚 Required qualifications are PhD in Atmospheric Physics and Climate sciences, geophysical science or related disciplines. 

Position 1 : the candidate will implement the coupling of an ice sheet dynamics model in the ICTP RegCM-ES with the aim of evaluating the impact of climate change on the glaciers of the Alpine region by performing high resolution km-scale convection permitting climate simulations.
Specific requirements are : high resolution regional climate modelling, coupled regional earth system modelling 

Position 2 : the candidate will implement a machine learning regional climate emulator to be able to complement the dynamical downscaling methods for high resolution climate projections.  
Specific requirements for this position are: expertise in ML (with a focus on DL) theory and application for climate science
