Dear RegCNETers
as you know, last year's 10th RegCM workshop was postponed to this year
due to the COVID pandemic. So here we are. The workshop will be FULLY
ONLINE (unfortunately) and will happen on Nov 8-12, so only one week.
During the workshop we plan to present the new version of the model
RegCM5, which includes a new, faster and more accurate non-hydrostatic
dynamical core. We are not sure there will be an official release of the
model, since we are still testing it, but at least you will be able to try
it and help us finding bugs, optimizing etc.
The registration is now open, and the deadline is 22 October, closer to
the beginning of the workshop than in the past, since there are no timing
issues with VISAS. So we encourage you to apply, and at least one good
thing about on-line workshops is that we can accept more participants,
even though it is still best to have participants with a minimum
experience in using models.
Of course, with on-line events there are several organizational issues,
not least the wide range of time zones of participants, but we will try to
organize things in the most optimal way for all. Also, there might issues
of on-line connectivity for some of you, and we will see what can be done
about those.
We hope to see you virtually in November, and hopefully more in person in
2023 for the 11th workshop.
best regards, Filippo (on behalf of the RegCM model development team)
