We have not used GFS11 data at ICTP. Someone in the US? We have used only 
NCEP/NCAR reanalysis (NNRPX) or the FNL aviation (see scripts in the 
Tools/Scripts) or the CFS transforming those to netCDF from GRIB2 using wgrib2 
program.
