IF you have instead a core dump with a segfault, this may just be that
you do not have enough memory in your workstation, or that your user
should be allowed to use more of it: try ulimit o limits command to know
your current user limit settings.
On my workstation with the SVN4648 I am able to got past the mksurfdata
step, but, with just 4GB of RAM, I am not able to run the model using
your configuration with nsg=5.
Note you require a land grid of 500x500 points...
