[RegCNET] Error for the sst

I am trying to make a  historical run using GFDL-ESM2M GCM historical data.
I am getting error for sst file
No such file or
directory
 mod_sst_gnmnc.F90 :      228:Error opening
./DATA/SST/ts_Amon_GFDL-ESM2M_historical_r1i1p1_196601-197012.nc:

while this SST file is present in the direcotory

DATA/SST/ts_Amon_GFDL-ESM2M_historical_r1i1p1_196601-197012.cdf

Is the data format nc/cdf causing so?
