[RegCNET] Inquiry about HadGEM2 global datasets on public repository

Dear RegCNET community,

Quick question about the HadGEM2 global datasets contained in the directory
HadGEM2/RF on the ICTP download site<http://clima-dods.ictp.it/data/d8/cordex/>
:

Last year (summer 2012), I downloaded data from 1979–2005. At the time, all
3-month files were the exact same size: 1.5 GB. Now, the files seem to be
substantially smaller (~700 MB) and variable in size (by a few MB).

Could someone explain the difference between the new and old data files and
how those differences might affect my simulations?
