Thank you Graziano.  Using the sst and icbc routines from 4.4rc13 works 
fine and I am in the sixth year of the run.

One minor sticking point, which I am mentioning just so it will be in 
the archive.  For HadGEM2-ES, some information that is not available 
from the orography file is read from 
ta_6hrLev_HadGEM2-ES_historical_r1i1p1_199012010600-199103010000.nc (see 
the code mod_gn6hnc.F90 for details).  At first it was slightly 
confusing that there was an error message about not being able to read 
this file, when I was only running the years 1950-1955. So others may 
want to be aware of this.
