[RegCNET] geopotential filtering?

Hello everyone,

Is anyone aware of the motivation for so called "Gauss-Seidel
filtering" in PostProc/mod_derived.f90 in RegCM4.4.

This method is applied when using sigma2p for e.g. geopotential. A
reference about this method  would be also helpful.
