I have download the ERA interim ICBC for 2009, and it seems to be completely
wrong, with surface temperature set to 0 K for most of the period. The
interpolation FOR SURE is not a problem, because either is ALWAYS faulty or it
is working: the code called is always the same.
In my opinion there are some bugs in the MIROC input routine, AND in the ERA
interim dataset you used to test.

I have tested your input namelist file with the 4.3.1 version of the code, and
it correctly creates input ICBC on ERA dataset here in ICTP without errors. By
the way, looking at the input namelist file, I have seen that you plan to use
CHEM+CLM, which is a combination which is supposed working correctly only in
4.3. In previous versions there were bugs and missing pieces of code, and I am
aware only of a heavily modified version of this by UMICH which was giving
correct results, the one used afterwards as the base for the 4.3 development.

Please consider upgrading the code, porting your MIROC input dataset
modifications into the new codebase.

Ciao.
