Dear RegCNET friends,

We encourage you to present your research in the special session A41 on "Regional
Climate Modeling" to be held at the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union,
5-9 December 2011 in San Francisco, California, USA.

The session description follows:

      A41: Regional Climate Modeling

*Conveners:*

*Lai-Yung (Ruby) Leung*, ruby.leung at pnl.gov <mailto:ruby.leung at pnl.gov>

*Raymond Arritt, *rwarritt at bruce.agron.iastate.edu
<mailto:rwarritt at bruce.agron.iastate.edu>

*Description:* This session will survey the current state of the art in regional
climate modeling on seasonal to centennial time scales. The session will include new
developments such as modeling earth system processes at the regional scale; human
influences such as land use, aerosol effects, and greenhouse gas effects; process
studies using regional climate models; ensemble methods and uncertainty analyses;
and development and comparison of dynamical cores and physics parameterizations.
Contributions also are solicited on topics such as regional downscaling of IPCC
climate change scenarios, coordinated regional modeling projects (e.g., CORDEX,
ENSEMBLES and NARCCAP among others), and applications of regional climate
projections for economic, social, or policy considerations.

For instructions on abstract submission please see the AGU web page at
http://sites.agu.org/fallmeeting/scientific-program/submit-policies/

The abstract deadline is *5 August 2011* at *03:59 UTC *(note this is the afternoon
or evening of 4 August in the Western Hemisphere). Please be aware that *the AGU
is very strict about deadlines* and they will not accept late abstracts under *any*
circumstances! We urge you to submit your abstract at least few days ahead of time
as the AGU system sometimes becomes overloaded on the deadline date.

AGU has a limited amount of funds for U.S. and international students who are
presenting a paper for the first time and have no other access to funds. See their
web page at http://www.agu.org/education/grants/travel.shtml for details. To my
knowledge travel support is not available for other attendees. For persons from
certain low and middle income countries the abstract submission fee is waived and
the registration fee is either waived or reduced (depending on the country). To
find out if you qualify please see the list of countries at
http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm09/registration/low-income-countries.php

Please let Ruby or me know if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting
you in San Francisco!

Regards,
Ray Arritt
(for the conveners)
