Yes Dogar,

I understand that he wants cumulative monthly rainfall but from raw RegCM output 
that are actually 3-hourly not daily. So summing will not work, you will 
overestimate 8 times.
It only works for the observations he has if they are daily of course.

Dear Bamba, 

Do you understand that he wants monthly accumulated precipitation or the rate of 
precipitation?

If he wants accumulated precipitation then making average and multiply by 30, 
31, 28 or 29 is same if he just adds all the daily precipitation. Just do it 
manually and you will get the same answer.
