>From my reading, to go from global to very high resolution you need to nest with a downscaling ratio of no more than 1:10 at any time, with 1:5 being more ideal. So, what I've been thinking is to go from ~220 km to 40 km (1:5 ratio approximately) and then from 40km to ~5-8 km (1:8 or 1:5 ratio).
I've read that the minimum resolution due to the hydrostatic nature of the model is ~5 km. If you want to go below 5 km then the WRF model could always be used.
