Dear Friends,

For the third year the International Center for Theoretical Physics
(ICTP), Trieste-Italy, in cooperation with CORDEX decided to lead the
Regional Climate Modeling
and Impacts session during the EGU2010 activities. the website is(
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2010/session/2477).

We are very glad to announce the start of the Abstract submission for the
EGU General Assembly 2010 (EGU2010), 02 May 2010 - 07 May 2010, Vienna,
Austria. You are cordially invited to browse through the Sessions CL4.3
(Convener: A. Zakey Co-Conveners: F. Giorgi, R. Arritt ) and submit your
abstract.

Thank you for considering contributing to the success of session CL4.3
with your presentation. Please inform also all your colleagues about
this session.

Regional climate change is influenced greatly by regional features such
as topography , which are not well represented in global models
because of their coarse resolution. Models of higher resolution cannot
practically be used for global simulation of long periods of time.
To overcome this, regional climate models,RCM's, with a higher resolution
( 20 km) are constructed for limited areas and run for longer
periods (20 years or so).

Contributions are solicited on all aspects of regional climate changes
and regional climate models, including descriptions of cooperative
regional climate modeling projects. The session will include discussion of
potential contributions of regional climate modeling toward the IPCC
Fifth Assessment Report, including international collaborations such as
CORDEX.

* Regional climate modeling, dynamics and physical processes in RCMs
* Drought, Flood monitoring using RCMs over arid and Semi-arid regions
* Climate change and seasonal prediction using RCMs
* Regional climate information from global climate models
* Land-Surface interaction and climate feedback
* Climate impacts on crop production
* Impact of Climate changes on land-use and desertification in arid and
Semi-arid regions

We are looking forword to your contribution.

With my best wishes,
Ashraf
