  Dr Xunqiang
 thanks for reply
i do day-ATM but there is same error
i put day-ATM  and mon-ATM in the output directory
PGFIO-F-253/unformatted read/unit=10/attempt to read non-existent record (direct access).
File name = ATM.1990010100    unformatted, direct access   record = 114

 do I must change  day-ATM ?

open(20,file=outfn(month),form='unformatted'
     &          ,recl=im*jn*4,access='direct')
         mrec=0
         open(10,file=in_fn(month),form='unformatted'
     &          ,recl=im*jn*4,access='direct')

To use the Post-processing codes under RegCM/Commons/DAY_MONTH,
you need do daily mean firstly (then you'll have ATM.19900101),
then do the monthly mean.

Actually, if you use the template option in file similar
to ATM.1990010100.ctl, you can do the average-3month in GrADS

the first line of this ctl file should be

dset ^ATM.%y4%m20100

then there is a line

options template

By the way, you need read GrADS Manual for details.
