Dear RegCNET friends
I would like to remind you all to send your abstract to CL27 - Regional Climate Modeling and impacts.
Thank you for considering contributing to the success of session CL27 with your presentation. Please inform also all your colleagues about this session.
Regional climate models are very important climate research tools available to scientists from developing and developed countries. Modeling of regional climate scales, and at time scales from months to decades, are of very importance, and a key for climate change and Earth system science, for example, water resources and anthropogenic climate change impacts.
The complexity of hydrological processes involved with climate change demands for an integrated modeling framework. Regional Climate Modeling RCM's are the best framework for hydrological studies.
Biogeophysical changes associated with land-cover and land-use change can be studied by
regional climate models. For example, conversion of natural vegetation to croplands can increase or decrease temperature depending on whether conversion occurs in tropical or temperate areas, and can increase or decrease humidity depending on the type of natural vegetation replaced, and the type of crops established.
Recent studies show considerable effect of atmospheric chemistry and aerosols on
climate on regional scale.
The session focuses on the following topics:
* The physical processes that regulate regional climates
* Climate change and seasonal prediction at the regional scale
* Regional climate information from global climate models
* Regional climate modeling and the ICTP RegCM3
* Biosphere-atmosphere interactions
* Climate impacts on agriculture, hydrology, and air quality
* Extreme events, flood, and drought

The session will be convened by Dr. Ashraf Zakey ( International Center
for theoretical physics (ICTP, Trieste Italy; azakey at ictp.it ). and
Co-convened by Prof. Filippo Giorgi (giorgi at ictp.it), Dr. Erika Coppola
(coppolae at ictp.trieste.it), Dr. Sara Rauscher (srausche at ictp.it), Dr.
Eun-Soon Im ( eim at ictp.it ).
Your contribution to the session will be welcome and very much
appreciated . Deadline for abstract submission is 14 January 2008.
We hope to see you in Viena in April 13-18 2008
Best wishes
Ashraf Zakey
