No problem, AERO.dat holds aerosol emission. If just run DUST, it just
need the soil texture category in DOMAIN.INFO.

Correct !

Correct !

No problem.

Should be 'DUST' (not 'dust'), here 'DUST' is the tracer name, since there
are 4 size bins of dust, you should have 4 'DUST',

It's correct to set ntr=4 and nbin=4 for this case.

regcm.in_4dust is prepared for running exp. with dust, no aerosol.
regcm.in_6aerosol no dust, with 6 aerosol
regcm.in_10areosol with dust, with 6 aerosol

No, you can reduce some, but not change the name.

You can use 'SO2', but not OK for 'BC' (For black carbon, the names in
code are 'BC_HB' and 'BC_HL'; For organic carbon, 'OC_HB' and 'OC_HL')
The code will not understand the 'BC' and 'OC'.
Usually, the experiment is like:
'SO2' and 'SO4' (It seldom just run 'SO2' only, because the icteraction
between 'SO2' and 'SO4')
'BC_HB' and 'BC_HL'
'OC_HB' and 'OC_HL'
It's not good to design an experiment of just 'OC_HB', or just 'BC_HL'.

For any experiments with dust, you must set nbin=4.
If you run experiment without dust, then you can set nbin=1, then
you need change the regcm.in accordingly.
Are you clear ?
