HB and HL stands for hydrophobic and Hydrophilic .. These properties 
modify the removal and the AOP .. there is a simple aging between HB and 
HL ..( see a paper in tellus , solmon et al., 2006)
If you want to make some assimilation , chia , chib are the tracer 
fields to modify ( it requires a bit of work  though )  .. You can also 
modify the optical properties in aeroppt.F ( if you assimilate directly 
some satellite products)
