Dear Colleagues
we are planning to organize a session on
"Downscaling to local and regional scales" (IAMAS session MS016)
to be held at the IUGG Conference in Perugia, Italy on July 2-13 2007.
Below you can find a description of the session. Besides Perugia being a
lovely town to visit, we are going through some very exciting times in
both dynamical and statistical downscaling to regional and local scales,
so I hope you will be able to contribute to a strong session.
The abstract deadline is: JANUARY 31 2007
More detail on the conference can be found at

Hope to see you there, Filippo Giorgi
PS. I apologize if you are receiving this email more than once. It means
you are important and are located on several email lists

"Downscaling to local and regional scales" (IAMAS session MS016)
This symposium invited papers on studies directed towards deriving
fine-scale estimates of atmospheric and hydrologic conditions. Approaches
based on both statistical and deterministic techniques, including
especially fine-scale regional models, are invited. Topics do be covered
will include techniques for downscaling and modeling, intercomparison
projects, application of the approaches to particular regions and
localities, and evaluation of the techniques and their transferability and
uncertainties. Papers are also welcomed on the linking of regional
atmospheric and climate models of other processes, including hydrologic
and ecosystem models.
