Hi,
RegCM uses high resolution topo and landuse data set of 60,30,10,5 or 2 MIN
resolution instead of NNRP or anyother topo data. Also, we do not use
surface temperature and surface pressure from NNRP/ERA40. Instead, RegCM
calculates these fields at its own while creating initial and boundary
condition dataset. We only use five 3D variables U,V,T,H and Q from
NNRP,ERA40 etc + SST data.
Only if input dataset is in sigma coordinates like in case of FvGCM and
FNEST then we require PS which is needed for converting the sigma level
gloabl data to pressure level on global domain before converting it to sigma
level RCM domain while creating ICBCs.
