Why nICHt? is a semi-annual comparative literary magazine publishing

poetry, short prose and translations. Texts are printed in either English,

German, or French; texts from other languages (in particular, submissions
in Italian and Russian are welcomed) are published in translation.
Alongside literary work the magazine publishes graphic representations of
language. These are important for the reception of the magazine in its
entirety, as they are attempts to translate the texts into the visual
realm. Why nICHt? encourages submissions from all categories of
contributors, including those whose work has not been published yet.

Editor in Chief – Irina Brantner

The magazine is based in Vienna, Austria, and is available in several book
stores in Europe (Vienna, Berlin, PAris, Munich, Prague, Budapest, ....).
It usually publishes two issues per year. Every issue has an individual
title which expresses the main direction of the published materials. The
next one will be called “(Meta)Physical Time”.

Editors encourage scientists who are also writing poetry or/and short
stories to make their submissions to the next issue. The deadline is
mid-April 2023.
