*The Associazione Italo Americana FVG / American Corner Trieste*, Piazza
Sant'Antonio Nuovo, 6 - Trieste,  informs the public that the month of
November is dedicated to* Native American Heritage*. Over 7 million
American citizens declare themselves Native Americans..

Each November, the President of the USA Issues a Proclamation declaring
November as Native American Heritage Month. The month is a time to
celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories
of Native American people. It is also a time to acknowledge the
important contributions they have made to the United States.

According to the *U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, in 2020 there were 574
federally recognized IndianTribes or Nations* in the United States.
These indigenous people have lived in the Americas for thousands of years.
This year President Biden's message stressed the importance
of Native American participation in the US Armed Forces.  He mentioned
in particular the service of the *"Code Talkers" *who created the secret
code, based on Native American languages, used during both the First and
Second World Wars.
