The American Corner Trieste, Piazza Sant'Antonio, 6, Trieste, will watch 
*IN STREAMING ONLINE* on the *Facebook Page of the **American Corner 
Trieste <https://www.facebook.com/AmericanCornerTrieste/> *the 
I*NAUGURATION CEREMONY of Joseph Biden -* 46th President of the USA and 
Kamala Harris - Vice President.   Commentary in ENGLISH.

*20/01/2021*
5 pm -  Inauguration of Joseph Biden as 46° Presidente degli USA
Swearing in and first speech as President of the USA and swearing in of 
the Vice President.

*This year is different for many reasons and the traditional events will 
take place, reflecting the current health emergency and political 
situation. *

*The Official Ceremony:*
- Guests are limited to ex-presidents, Members of the Congress, Senate, 
Supreme Court and one guest each.
- *Lady Gaga* will sing the National Anthem, *Jennifer Lopez* will 
perform, *Amanda Gorman*, a young poet will read.
- All Americans are encouraged to watch the ceremony on streaming TV, 
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube.

*Other Events:*
Instead of the traditional parade after the ceremony, the *parade will 
be virtual* with participants connected live from their cities.  Along 
the parade route, instead of spectators, there will be 200.000 US flats, 
to remember those who have died of Covid-19.
- Usually there are several Balls organized by the supporters of the new 
president, but this year on the night of the inauguration, *Tom Hanks 
will host "Celebrating America" a 90 minute show* with virtual guests 
such as Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake and others.

*The days prior to the Inauguration, other virtual events are planned by 
the Inaugural Committee: *

*Monday 18/01 is Martin Luther King Day*, a National Holiday.  Joseph 
Biden and Kamala Harris ask Americans to observe a *National Day of 
Service* to help in their own communities.

*Tuesday 19/01 is a National Day of Unity and Remembrance of the Victims 
of Covid-19.* The presidential inauguration committee has planned a 
nationwide Covid memorial, urging cities and towns to light up their 
buildings and ring church bells.

*Elizabeth Alexander* (Obama, 2009), *Richard Blanco* (Obama, 2013).
