FAMELAB 2020: TALKING SCIENCE!

If you think you can explain a concept in science, mathematics or 
engineering in just 3 minutes using only the props you can carry on 
stage with you, then enter the FameLab competition!
There is still one week to register for the FameLab selection in 
Trieste: young researchers, scientists, students between 21 and 39 years 
old can participate by registering online by February 12, 2020.

The competition will be held on February 20, 2020 at 9.00 am at the 
Teatro Miela.

_FameLab candidates can be of any nationality (presentations can be held 
in English)._

In order to help aspiring FameLab competitors to prepare their 
presentation before the local selection, two*free training meetings* 
will be organized in which all interested people who meet the 
requirements to register for FameLab can participate.

The meetings are on 8 and 12 February, at the E. Toti Youth Aggregation 
Centre (Via della Cattedrale 2).

- On Saturday 8th February, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, Donato 
Ramani, from the SISSA Communication Unit, will explain how to use the 
"storytelling" for presentations, how to organize the contents in the 
best possible way and what little rhetorical tricks to use to be more 
engaging.

- On Wednesday, February 12, from 18.00 to 21.00, the actress Daniela 
Gattorno will focus on aspects related to the theatricality of a 
presentation, explaining how the way to move on stage, the gestures and 
the setting of the voice can help to attract the attention of the audience.

WHAT IS FAMELAB
Famelab is a competition for scientists, mathematicians,engineers and 
technologists to talk about an aspect of their science in 3 minutes in 
front of a live audience and a panel of judges. Competitors can use any 
props that they can carry with them on stage (but not Powerpoint).

For the contestants in Trieste, there is a cash prize, participation in 
a dedicated Masterclass and access to the national phase, which this 
year for the first time will be held in Trieste (May 4, 2020).
