announcement on Pasticceria Pirona (Trieste)

Vote for Pirona and save it!


Pirona, historic Pasticceria Liberty (https://www.facebook.com/past
icceria.pirona/), founded in 1900 by Alberto Pirona, has been closed since
March 2017.
But "Pirona" has not been forgotten, indeed, it is still loved, as it was
since its foundation, by many citizens and tourists, who remember it not
only for the excellent sweets, the furnishings with floral decorations, but
also as a favorite venue for many artists including Italo Svevo, Umberto
Saba, and James Joyce. The Irish writer even wrote some of the chapters of
his "Ulysses". Pirona is, therefore, a unique place that "smells" of the
art of confectionery, coffee, literature, Triestine and international
culture, which many have reported to us wanting to preserve.
To help protect this "precious" site, I invite you to report it as “Luogo
del Cuore” ("Place of the Heart") in the national census of sites not to be
forgotten, promoted by the FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano (The National
Trust of Italy -https://www.fondoambiente.it/) in collaboration with Intesa
Sanpaolo Bank.
