*HISTORICAL ECOLOGY OF SEMI-ENCLOSED BASINS: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF 
SEAS AT RISK

3rd – 4th October 2016 Chioggia, Italy

*The meeting welcomes participants from different fields and addressing 
different aspects of historical ecology: history of discovery of marine 
life and environments, exploitation of marine resources, changes in 
perception and use of marine resources, changes in coastal areas due to 
urbanization and other human uses, management actions.

*Participants:* historians, marine biologists, ecologists, 
archaeologists, anthropologists, environmental stakeholders/managers

*Venue of the meeting:* Palazzo Grassi, City of Chioggia (Venice area)

*MEETING SESSIONS:*

1. Changes in knowledge, perception and use of marine ecosystems of semi 
enclosed basins and coastal areas

2. Changes in biodiversity, environmental/human drivers and food-webs

3. Management responses to changes in marine ecosystems and future scenarios

_Abstract submission deadline: *10th August 2016*_

*Supporting Publication:* Regional Studies in Marine Science (Elsevier) 
will publish a Special Issue with high quality, original, full research 
papers from the conference after usual peer-review process.

*Registration: *there are no fees, but a maximum number of 60 persons 
will be accepted. _Closing date for registration: *31st August 2016*_
