images of energy

The theme of the 2011 edition of the photo contest /Art(or)Science/ is 
*energy*: the competition is meant to award images issued in the fields 
of physics or biology research work, and connected to any form of 
energy. Apart from a scientific significance, the images must also be 
valuable from an artistic point of view.

Official Contest Rules

The contest is open to *students or scientists* enrolled in or 
affiliated to Universities or other Research Institutes.

Each participant can submit *a maximum of 5 works*.

In order to enter the Contest, participants must fill in every field of 
the online entry form, available at 
www.immaginarioscientifico.it/arteoscienza.html.

The images must be transmitted following the instructions contained in 
the online entry form.

The deadline for submitting works is August 1^st 2011.

Works carried out using photomontage of other images or digitally 
retouched photos (no text or graphic elements may be added to the 
original picture) will not be accepted in the Contest.

Awards

a) Exhibition

A Jury will select 30 works out of the ones qualifying according to the 
Contest's rules. The 10 best pictures will be printed into maxi posters 
(6x3m) and will be displayed in Trieste from September 12^th to the 
25^th 2011.

All the selected works will also be printed on rigid support and 
displayed on the occasion of the event /Researchers' Night 2011/ 
(Septemebr 23^rd ) in a convenient public place that will be chosen by 
the organizative board. At the end of the event, the authors of the 
images may collect their works.

b) Monetary prize

A winner will be chosen among the authors of the 10 best pictures. The 
winner will be awarded a monetary prize of 500 euros that he will be 
officially presented during a public award ceremony.

Jury

The Jury will be formed by at least 3 members chosen from the Trieste 
University teaching staff and/or among experts of science communication. 
The Judges will define the selection criteria and their decision is to 
be considered final.
