forced to leave the University of Rome and persecuted after refusing 
to take an oath of allegience to the Fascist Government in 1931.

Il video, a cura de La Limonaia - Associazione per la diffusione della 
cultura scientifica, ricostruisce la figura di Vito Volterra, uno dei 
rappresentanti più illustri della comunità scientifica italiana tra Otto 
e Novecento.  Matematico e fisico, Volterra (1860-1940, presidente del 
Bureau international des poids et des mèsures, dell'Accademia dei Lincei 
e del Cnr, viene privato della cattedra universitaria ed espulso dalle 
accademie per aver rifiutato il giuramento di fedeltà al fascismo.
