March 14th 2007, National Launch of  Regions of Knowledge  FP7: Local 
clusters for Research, Auditorium Centro Congressi – AREA Science Park

We would like to invite you to the National Launch of Regions of 
Knowledge  FP7: Local Clusters for Research, that will be held on March 
14th at 2 p.m. at the conference centre of AREA Science Park.
Strengthening the research potential of the European regions: this is 
the objective of the Regions of Knowledge Programme - FP7 – and the 
topic selected by the Coordinamento degli Enti di Ricerca Regionali 
(the coordination body of  regional research institutes) for its yearly 
conference organised in cooperation with DG Research of the European 
Commission and APRE Roma to celebrate the national launch of the first 
call for proposals for 2007.
The projects of Regions of Knowledge include measures to strengthen the 
networks of cross-border research and the access to European funds, 
thereby fostering the integration between the different actors of 
research and the world of enterprises.
The first call for proposals invites Universities, research centres, 
local institutions and, above all, companies to create local clusters 
of excellence.
During the conference the officials of the European Commission, of  the 
Ministry for University and Research and of APRE will illustrate the 
content of the “Regions of Knowledge” Programme and  highlight the 
potential role that the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region might play in 
contributing to the implementation of the European strategies in this 
sector.

The conference will be attended, among the others, by the 
Vice-secretary of the Ministry for Research and University Luciano 
Modica, and by the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region 
Riccardo Illy.
