Do you remember the "Pigotta"? For those who don't, the "pigotta" is a 
doll made of fabric and filled with raw wool: it comes from the old 
times when there was no money to buy toys for children and mums made 
them with the poor materials they had available.

UNICEF Italy is launching once again the campaign "Adopt a Pigotta" and 
is looking for good willed ladies and, why not, gentlemen and also 
children to manifacture these dolls, supplying of course the basic 
materials and the instructions, leaving however to one's fantasy the 
final touches: that is why each pigotta is different from all the 
others.

It is very easy to create a doll since UNICEF promotes the same 
initiative in primary schools as well as in kindergartens, and if once 
sewn the model you are not able to create the dress, you may paint it 
directly with a felt pen or colors for fabric.

Also an ID Card is supplied for each pigotta, that will carry the name 
you wish to give to your creation. The pigotta will be "adopted" at 
Christmas and the offer given for each doll will support the UNICEF 
campaign for vaccinations against the six main lethal diseases: 
poliomyelitis, diftheria, whooping cough, measles, tetanus and

Vi ricordate della "Pigotta"? Per chi non lo sapesse, la pigotta e' una 
bambola fatta di stoffa e riempita di lana grezza: ricorda i vecchi 
tempi in cui non c'erano abbastanza soldi per comprare giocattoli ai 
bimbi e le mamme li confezionavano con le povere cose che avevano a 
disposizione.

L'UNICEF Italia lancia ancora una volta la campagna "Adotta una 
Pigotta" e sta cercando signore e, perche' no, signori, e anche bambini 
di buona volonta' per confezionare queste bambole, fornendo 
naturalmente i materiali di base e le istruzioni ma lasciando alla 
fantasia di ognuno il tocco finale: ecco perche' ogni pigotta e' 
diversa dalle altre.

E' un lavoro molto semplice, vi basti pensare che questa iniziativa 
viene portata avanti nelle scuole ed anche negli asili e, una volta 
cucita la sagoma, se non avete la possibilita' di creare voi i 
vestitini, potete colorarli direttamente sul corpo della Pigotta.

Viene fornita anche una carta d'identita' che compilate voi, dando un 
nome ed un'identita' alla vostra creatura. La Pigotta e' "data in 
adozione" a Natale e chi la porta con se' lascia un'offerta volontaria 
all'UNICEF servira' a coprire le spese per tutti i vaccini e le 
siringhe sterili necessari per una vaccinazione completa contro le sei 
principali malattie mortali: poliomielite, difterite, pertosse, 
morbillo, tetano e tubercolosi. Ulteriori informazioni (solo in
