Dear All,
ICTP is pleased to invite you to the event "Opportunities and Challenges of Quantum Science and Technology," a panel discussion featuring quantum experts from academia and industry to discuss the implications of a rapidly developing field. The event will kick-start a year of celebrations commemorating Nobel laureate and ICTP founder Abdus Salam's centennial.
The event will take place TODAY, Thursday 29 January at 11:00 hrs in ICTP's Budinich Lecture Hall, Leonardo Building, Strada Costiera 11.
The panelists will be Tommaso Calarco of the University of Bologna, Italy, and Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany; Sabrina Maniscalco, CEO and Co-Founder of the quantum startup Algorithmiq, Finland; Dragan Mihailovic of the Jozef Stefan Institute, the CENN Nanocenter and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Peter Zoller of the Institute of Quantum Optic and Quantum Information, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Austria.
After the round
table, ICTP will announce the recipient of the 2026 Spirit of Abdus Salam award,
which honours those in the ICTP community who, like Salam
himself, have worked tirelessly to promote the development of
science and technology in disadvantaged parts of the world.

about the event is available here.
This will be followed by a group photograph, and a special cake

the Centennial year together.
We look forward to celebrating Salam's centennial in your
presence!
