Dear All,
You are most cordially invited to
the 2024 Salam Distinguished Lectures Series by Prof.
Stéphane Mallat, Collège de France and École Normale
Supérieure, Paris. The Lectures will take place at the ICTP in
the Budinich Lecture Hall and will also be livestreamed from the
ICTP website (
www.ictp.it/livestream).
There will be 2 colloquium talks and
a special topic talk by Professor Mallat as follows:
- TODAY, Thursday 1 February 2024 at 14:00 hrs,
Lecture 1 (Colloquium): "Energy estimation and data
generation by inverse renormalisation group". https://indico.ictp.it/event/10561
- TOMORROW, Friday 2 February at 11:00 hrs, Lecture
2 (Special topic talk): "Log-Sobolev stability, wavelets and
interaction energies across scales". https://indico.ictp.it/event/10562
- TOMORROW, Friday 2 February at 14:00 hrs, Lecture
3 (Colloquium) "Multiscale neural network models for
generation by score diffusion". https://indico.ictp.it/event/10593
Professor Mallat is an applied mathematician, he is a member of
the French Academy of Sciences and a foreign member of the US
National Academy of Engineering. He was previously Professor at
the Courant Institute of NYU, at Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole
Normale Superieure in Paris. He also was a founder and CEO of a
semiconductor start-up company. He developed the multiresolution
wavelet theory and algorithms at the origin of the compression
standard JPEG-2000, and sparse signal representations in
dictionaries with matching pursuits. His current work is devoted
to mathematical models of deep neural networks, for data
analysis and physics.
The Abdus Salam Distinguished Lecture
Series receives generous support from the Kuwait Foundation for
the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
Light refreshments will be served
after Lecture 1 and Lecture 3.
We look forward to seeing you at
these special events.
Best regards,
